Just enforce the law Tuesday, November 8, 2005

How many times have you heard people say "Immigration laws need fixin' because they're broke."

When you sit down and think about it, the laws aren't wrong, they just need to be enforced, at least at this point in time.

Picture this, your child comes home at one in the morning and you say to him, you're grounded because you should have been home at 10 p.m.  He says you're wrong, and the rule should be changed to 1 a.m.

What do you do? Do you change your house rules, because your wayward son doesn't feel he has to obey them?

Don't think so! Rules are rules, and laws are laws.

Immigration laws were set in place to deal with a situation that if not enforced would get completely out of control, which is exactly what is happening now.  So instead of doing the right thing, which is to obey the existing laws, the lawbreakers and their supporters want the laws to change to make it easier for them to carry on, in their lawless course.

Course of wisdom would be to enforce the laws already in place, and the rest would take care of itself.
